An Early Bronze Age (c.1950-1500 BC) ring-ditch has been excavated past times Archaeological Research Services (ARS) inwards a higher house the floodplain of the River Ribble at Clitheroe, Lancashire.
This ring-ditch takes 1 of the characteristic forms of Early Bronze Age burial site inwards northern England, that of the apartment ‘ringwork’ that lacks either an earthen or rock mound. This cast is associated inwards detail alongside the Pennine Uplands. Pit-like features only about the southern side of the ring-ditch, although predominantly natural inwards origin, powerfulness stand upward for the bases of trees or shrubs that were intentionally planted to heighten the monument’s visual demeanor on inside the landscape.
The digging identified nine cremation burials inwards a fundamental position inside the monument, iv of which were establish inside near-complete bipartite Collared Urns (pictured), too 2 others inwards fragments.
