Archaeologists believe they bring found, preserved inward peat, charcoal from a plow over the sack that destroyed an ancient hillfort.
Dun Deardail was built close 2,500 years agone on a prominent knoll on Sgorr Chalum, a loma overlooking the River Nevis inward Glen Nevis.
Charcoal institute inward surrounding peatbog has been analysed.
Four "significant plow over the sack events" were identified equally layers of charcoal or soot. One, from unopen to 310BC, is idea to move the fort's burning.
Archaeologists said the plow over the sack that destroyed Dun Deardail would bring "created towering plumes of smoke ascent upward from the fort, expelling ash as well as charcoal into the air".
