Archaeologist Adam Daubney, from Lincolnshire County Council, said it is i of solely 3 known examples inwards the country.

Mr Redmayne, who works life the crucifix on Sunday, said he did non initially realise the significance of his discovery. He said he knew it was a crucifix, together with was perhaps quondam due to its unsmooth design.

However, he said it was solely when he researched the detail online he realised it was something special. Despite the artefact having piddling monetary value, he said, it offers a unique insight into the lives of ordinary people at the time.
